Introduction

The Cybercolloids Technical review is the only technical review totally dedicated to hydrocolloids. We do not publish any other technical reviews and do not prepare abstracts for any other sector. The abstracts do not claim to be comprehensive but do claim to be the best in terms of presenting what is useful and relevant in the hydrocolloids field. To be completely comprehensive would entail publishing several thousand abstracts, the vast majority of which are of no interest to the hydrocolloid manufacturer or user and the useful information would be lost in a sea of dross.

You will notice that in this issue we have extended our coverage to include a broader range of countries including china. We hope to continue this and bring you the best information from a wide range of publication sources.

The layout of the abstracts has settled on the format used in the Q1 issue. For those who are curious to know where the Cybercolloids reference code comes in this is in fact an index code used in the database where we store the information. We have plans to make this database available on-line later in the year to all subscribers. This has the the advantage of being searchable and usable by a much larger number of people in your organisation.

The cover picture this quarter is of Carob pods growing in the Mediterranean during the month of may when they are still green and on the trees. The previous months front cover actually showed harvested carob pods. If any one has an interesting graphic that we could use as a front cover with a paragraph of explanation, maybe some thing from your research, then we would be happy to consider it for a publication along with your description and suitable references. We have full graphic editing capabilities so we can accept pictures in most formats and states.
