Marcel restructured...or not?
Has Marcel been restructured? Has Rico Philippines Industrial Corporation (RPIC) been spun off? Has RPIC just declared UDI? Who is supplying what? and who runs what?
Conflicting messages are being sent from RPIC and Marcel about the alleged recent changes within the Marcel Corporation, so what is the truth?
According to RPIC:
- Rico Carrageenan will continue to offer all product types: refined, semi-refined food grade and semi-refined petfood grade carrageenan.
- Marcel will continue to offer the petfood grade carrageenan.
- Rico and Marcel will continue to offer under the same trade names of Aquagel, Aquavis, Milkvis and Milkgel.
- Rico will continue to operate the food grade factory. Marcel will operate the petfood grade factory.
RPIC also included an official statement. which specifically mentioned the Marcel Group having been restructured and RPIC "spun off"
The story from Marcel is slightly different. A spokesman from Marcel made it very clear that in their minds there has been no restructuring of Marcel and that RPIC is a contract SRC supplier to Marcel. Also that Marcel Trading Corporation was and will still trade refined carrageenan, semi refined carrageenan and petfood grade. The trade names Aquavis, Aquagel and Milkvis are Marcel trademarks and no other company is legally authorised to use them without the consent of Marcel. According to Marcel they are only aware of RPIC making semi refined carrageenan.
