ISP acquires Red Carnation Gums Ltd

24th February 2004

ISP Food Specialties (UK) Ltd announced today that they had acquired the UK based blends business Red Carnation Gums.

ISP, following in the footsteps of Danisco who bought Germantown, have just acquired a food blends business to compliment their substantial, but highly product focussed, alginate business which they bought during the break up of Kelco some years ago. Hydrocolloid companies appear to be splitting into two groups, those who wish to divest of their hydrocolloids business and those who are actively pursuing a value added route through vertical integration into food blends.
